About Us
Pete Steffen Construction was founded in 2015 as a general contracting firm specializing in design/build projects large and small near Yankton, South Dakota. But the years of experience stretch all the way back to 1997, when Pete apprenticed under Barry Christensen, his brother-in-law, who is well known for his detailed and thorough craftsmanship. Pete his team and partners have architectural & design engineers have over 40 years combined in construction, design & contracting. Through those years, he has created strong partnerships with area suppliers and subcontractors, which help Pete Steffen Construction build sound, durable and stylish residential, utility and commercial spaces.

We attended the 2024 Lewis & Clark Home Builder Associations Annual meeting in Yankton. And to our surprise, we were chosen as the 2023 Lewis & Clark Home Builder of the Year Award! 🏆 A huge shoutout to our incredible team for their unwavering dedication, quality and hard work every single day. Grateful to be part of Yankton area and Lewis & Clark Community. This award is a testament to the quality and effort our team puts in!
Helping those in need…
We believe in helping others in need, inside and outside of our community.
During 2017’s Hurricane Irma, Steffen Construction spent a few days volunteering in Tampa, Florida. In preparation for the hurricane, the team assisted families in boarding up their homes.
Pete and the team also assisted with emergency calls during the massive flooding around the Yankton, SD area in 2018. The guys helped salvage belongings & pump water out of homes and basements.
